San Juan night is coming!


San Juan is magical night celebrated on June 23rd, that welcomes the summer season. It is traditionally celebrated on the beach during the shortest night of the year, the summer solstice. Friends, food, drinks and incredible bonfires are the perfect ingredients for a great night. Legends, tradition and rituals are connected by common elements: fire and water.

It is common to see young people jumping over the multiples fires, ritual that it is believed to give more strength to the sun, which looses hours of light during the summer. In night full of superstition and mystery, if you want good luck for the next following 12 months you may want to:

  • Jump over a bonfire
  • Burn something from the past to leave behind bad spirits and start a new phase in your life
  • Swimming in the ocean after midnight is said to purify soul and body
  • Burn a piece of paper with your lover’s name on it
